How to find the right machine for your indoor and/or outdoor job

You know you need a hard working, reliable machine to help make your jobsite or project. You know that All Lift Forklifts and Access Equipment can provide you industry-leading machines. What you may not know yet, however, is what machine in our extensive fleet will best suit your needs. So, here are the questions to ask yourself when navigating through our machines to narrow down what suits you best. Of course, we will also be at your disposal for helping to find your perfect machine fit.

Work machine type

What will you be using the machine for?

This is probably the most important question you can ask yourself when looking for a machine. Not all machines and brands are made equal for one purpose. The reason forklifts and access equipment are so valuable to a worksite is that they are specifically designed for certain maneuvers (albeit some are multi-purpose). So…

  • Do you need the machine for outdoor, indoor or both?
  • Do you need it for short or long term use?
  • Does it need to be a machine you are licensed to use?

We can help work around any hurdles you have in answering these questions.

Weight to be lifted

What is the capacity the machine will need to lift?

This is as much a matter of safety as it is for assured efficiency and productivity. It is a legal requirement to only use a machine up to its maximum capacity weight capabilities. This not only to not damage the machine, but to also ensure you and any other people onsite are not in danger of injury, or even death, by over-weight capacity use. Machines can fall, weights can drop from a height and the machine will not work as it is designed to. Weight capacities can start from sub 1999kg all the way up to 6000kg. It’s best to measure by your greatest weight capacity needs, and allow a few kilos leeway between that and the maximum weight allowance of the machine.

Height work

What kind of heights does the machine need to reach?

Much like the weight capacity check, it’s very important for the safety and efficacy of the machine to know the height you are working with. You also need to check that your licence (or your operator’s licence) aligns with your maximum intended height. The measure for most machines is to know if you are working above 11 metres, or below 11 metres. As with weight, measure your height needs based on your highest intended work point.
